Have you heard of BIRR? Better Internet for Rural, Regional and Remote Australia is a volunteer run organisation that supports bush communities, providing a ‘one-stop shop’ of relevant information and links for all things related to bush telecommunications. BIRRR volunteers offer support, independent advice and advocacy and negotiates often confusing bush broadband options and issues.
They have contacts in NBN, Telstra and other service providers, as well as government departments and advocate for #betterbushcomms to ensure the broadband and communication needs of rural Australians are met. They have attracted industry professionals and tech experts, data analysts, website designers and a variety of members who have devoted their time in assisting rural and remote communities.
