Are you passionate about mental health and making a difference in the lives of people who have been diagnosed with a mental illness? The Compeer program aims to reduce the stigma and isolation associated with mental illness through friendship and social support.
As a Compeer volunteer, you will be matched to a person who has a diagnosed mental illness to enjoy social activities with. All contact will occur in public settings, with no home visitations. Activities may include enjoying a coffee and chat together, going to a sporting event, having lunch, seeing a movie, or going to a Compeer Social event.
The Compeer model is based on the premise that people need other people in their lives to develop and maintain good mental health and well-being. In this way, the Compeer friendship program is mutually beneficial.
Activities are one hour per week, flexible according to the volunteer’s availability.

- Completion of online and face-to-face training.
