Leep delivered its first Digital Mentor Training last week as part of its Be Connected Capacity Builders program. Held at Café Connect in Orange, the training took aspiring volunteer digital mentors through topics that included how to inspire reluctant new-users, using accessibility features and some essential basics such as email, searching and safety.
We found some very promising digital mentors among the participants, some of whom have already been informally mentoring through other volunteer roles. The next training is on Thursday October 31st in Forbes.
As part of Leep’s growing network of digital mentoring hubs in Western NSW, we are currently launching new programs in Lithgow, Bathurst, Orange and Condobolin. We are excited to welcome Kath Spice to our team as our Outreach Officer. Kath is based in Condobolin and is responsible for supporting our programs in the region.
Please contact [email protected] if you’re interested in volunteering as a digital mentor, to attend Be Connected Digital Mentor training, or to learn more about technology at a hub in the Central West region.
