Leep’s volunteer Tech Mates have held over 90 remote sessions with learners since Leep transitioned its successful one-on-one support service to remote delivery during COVID-19. Tech Mates connect with learners via phone or video calls to continue supporting them on their journey to digital literacy. One remote learner commented “I’ve learnt a lot from Leep’s service. My Tech Mate is extremely helpful, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover I could understand. I can’t wait to learn more.” The patient support of Leep’s skilled Tech Mates is enabling more learners to take part in the new normal of accessing essential services online from the comfort and safety of home. Common topics include setting up email accounts, online banking, accessing telehealth, ordering groceries, and staying connected with family and friends.
