Working with People with Disability - Wentworthville

When working with clients, fellow volunteers or friends with disability, many volunteers feel unsure as to what is appropriate to say or do. This training will give volunteers the opportunity to ask questions, learn strategies and gain confidence in order to engage positively with people with disability. 



Key learning areas:

- Understanding the legal and historical context of disability inclusion

- How to ensure communication is not offensive or disrespectful 

- Definitions of disability in medical and social contexts

- Why assumptions can be harmful

- The role of respect in disability inclusion
