About the event

Co-Facilitated by Laureen Miles, Manager – Volunteering at Leep NGO and Jay Okan from Western Sydney University. You will learn the rights of older people in Australia and have an introductory understanding of partnership-centred care You will also learn strategies for improving the mental health of older people, and relevant research showing what helps maintain good health in older age.

Attendees will also learn how to identify where to find quality free resources and training for working with older people.This free online workshop is intended for volunteers working with older people and registered with not-for-profit organisations. Priority will be given to organisations in Western Sydney and Nepean areas if registrations reach capacity. 

ABOUT THE GUEST SPEAKER

Jay Okan

CO-FACILITATOR

    Jay Okan is a registered Psychologist. She is currently completing a PhD at Western Sydney University in the School of Psychology. Her PhD focuses on the social and emotional wellbeing of older persons.
